Job Description
Job Title: Event Assistant
Department: Sales & Event Services
Reports to: Event Manager
FLSA: Hourly
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Event Assistant at DeVos Place. The Event Assistant supports the Sales and Event Services Department as well as Directors and Assistant General Managers by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Organizes, updates, and maintains file systems, calendars, and other records for Event Services.
  • Operates radio and dispatch system in professional and courteous manner.
  • Provides support to Sales and Event Services Department.
  • Receptionist support when needed.
  • Liaison to clients for basic information.
  • Assists with site visits and tours when appropriate.
  • Attends weekly staff and event meetings.
  • Coordinates and arranges site visits and other meetings, reserves and prepares meeting location as needed.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned such as fire inspections and room conversions.
  • Supports Event Manager with day-to-day operations.
  • Show coverage for the expo floor, ballroom events, and meeting space as scheduled.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
  • Two years related administrative experience
  • Hospitality background a bonus.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to handle multiple tasks at a time.
  • Good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use all office equipment, computer, calculator, copy machines, mail equipment.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Background in industry standard software systems a plus but not required. Ability to use CAD a bonus but not required.
