Event Custodians perform set-up and clean up duties for specified events on an on-call basis. Typically hours may average 8 – 24 hours weekly, but actual hours will vary from week to week and with seasonal event volume.
What you will do:
In addition to performing on-call event set-up and being responsible for overall cleanliness of our convention center for various events, our custodians are relied upon to act as goodwill ambassadors of our venue. Expect to interact with a large volume of guests who will look to you for everything from help with directions, venue information, recommendations for restaurants and local transportation assistance and answering the most popular question "Where are the restrooms?"
Other responsibilities will include but aren't limited to the following:
- Cleans and maintains rest rooms; re-stocks paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap; sweeps and mops floors; cleans sinks, mirrors, counters, toilets and urinals
- Assists Utility Workers in setting up or tearing down tables, chairs, staging and draperies, as needed.
- Collects recyclables and trash inside the building and outdoors; operates compactor
- Provides directions and other general assistance to the public
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums and otherwise maintains public and non-public areas prior to and during events; cleans glass in windows and doors
- Customer service oriented
- Initiative, self-starter and dependable
- Ability to perform all the essential duties of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Any combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
- Minimum of one year experience in facility cleaning or janitorial work. Experience cleaning in a fast-food or similar environment, business or multi-residential housing may substitute for facility/janitorial work;
