This position is a critical member of the Events & Space Planning team of five that operates within the Dean's Office.
We produce Dean's Office Events such as the Dean's Speaker Series, Faculty Receptions, Commencements, and Community events. The primary responsibility of this position is to support logistics and execution of these events. Additionally, this position assists in support of event policy and process communication. This position requires a high level of diplomacy and interaction with stakeholders at all levels. Stakeholders include Haas senior leadership, staff, professional and ladder faculty, and UG and Graduate students. The incumbent must communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization. We are seeking a self-motivated problem solver who is able to learn quickly and independently.

Responsibilities
Plans, organizes and implements small events or portions of larger events such as conferences, program events, Commencement, Receptions and VIP briefings, including being assigned responsibility for a specific event segment such as parking/transportation, catering, etc. Contributes and participates in Dean's Office Event Planning collaborating with various stakeholders. Under the direction of Events Manager, negotiates and secures contracts, permits and certificates of insurance in accordance with campus and the Office of Risk Management policies and procedures. Manages and tracks event budgets. Manages small events. Serves as a liaison to and resource for event constituents and staff in advance of and during events. Provides guidance for Event Planning. Monitors and responds to Departmental emails. Communicates policies and procedures and process. Manages department website. Participates in and, in some cases, leads staffing plans, including creation of staff schedules for events including acting as on-site staff liaison for vendors, colleagues, and speakers.

Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations. Working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. Working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar management and student and/or volunteer scheduling. Good interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively representing the campus, medical center or other university organization to its publics. Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues/problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher-level staff and/or management. Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, production personnel, technical operators and performing artists. Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines ensuring excellent customer service support. Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members. Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits
This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) non-exempt career position, which is paid hourly and eligible for full UC Benefits.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $31.94 - $36.83.
