Job Description
Job Title: Evening MRI Technologist


Reports to: MRI Manager


Summary: The MRI Technologist works as a member of the MRI Team, reporting to the MRI Manager. This role provides MRI based imaging to patients and supports the patient experience throughout their time at GLMI. Effective communication between departments and exemplary patient care must be maintained. This role performs a variety of tasks beyond MRI imaging including; patient calls, documentation in charts, and assisting with both patient and other co-worker needs.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • PACS/RIS Computer
  • Attends to the medical needs of patients at all times. Maintains patient modesty at all times.
  • Operates standard imaging equipment including but not limited to:
  • Records all contrast injections administered to patients along with any complications of contrast injections
  • Power Injector
  • Provides clear and thorough explanation of procedures to patients.
  • PC Computer
  • MRI procedures
  • Starting IV lines on patients using proper technique
  • Follows strict MRI safety guidelines at all times.
  • Other Duties May Be Assigned
  • Enters data in Radiology Information System, assuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Helps fellow technologists when not busy with MRI specific duties.
  • Communicates with patients regarding medical history, symptoms and explanation of procedures with associated documentation.
  • Verifies accuracy of orders prior to examining the patient.
  • MRI Machines
  • Laser Film Printer/CD
  • Restocks supplies and maintains a list of things to be ordered.
  • Performs all duties of a MRI Technologist including:
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area, provides quality control processes when necessary and ensures the safety of patients in the department.


Qualifications

Education/Experience


High School Diploma


ARRT approved program, 2 years' experience preferred but not required.


Certificates And Licenses


CPR Certification


ARRT Certification in MRI required, or within 1 year of start date in accordance with GLMI policy.


New York State Radiologic Technology License with Injection


Physical And Mental Requirements


  • Ability to listen and communicate with patients face to face or over the phone
  • Ability to make decisions and think quickly
  • May be asked to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must have mental and physical capabilities to perform all tasks listed above
  • Will be required to read, write, work in a fast-paced office setting
  • Standing, walking, sitting, keyboard use for long periods of time
