Estimator Jobs

Prepare competitive time, cost, materials, and labor estimates based on Customer requirements, fabrication specifications, engineering design, drawing and blueprints. Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, and directly with customers to resolve any issues and increase speed and accuracy of estimates; work closely with Purchasing Department and directly with vendors to ensure that materials are available for manufacturing at the best price. Accurate review of industry standards to assure compliance.

• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimum guidance.
• Experience in machining and steel fabrication.
• Strong customer/supplier relationship skills. Strong problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, excellent people skills, proven ability to deliver results, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize while under constraints from customers.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in assembly/manufacturing area.
• Strong understanding of business math. Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Effective PC skills require (Microsoft Office), familiar with AutoCAD software and/or similar design software. Knowledgeable of internet file transfer and file conversion techniques.

The Estimator will report to the Estimating Manager and then the Director of Operations

The Estimator will be expected to but not limited to:

• Formalize the quote and submit it to the customer after quote approval.
• Prepare time and cost estimates based on customer supplied drawings and specifications. Estimates involve cutting, forming, machining, fabrication, inspection, coating, and other functions of a turn-key fabrication facility.
• Combine pricing with appropriate mark-ups depending on competition and market conditions. Provide cost data for approval to sales and Management.
• Recommend 'make/buy' decisions and offer input regarding vendor performance.
• Must be technically sound in steel fabrication for multiple processes including structural steel fitting and welding, cutting; (Saw, Plasma, Laser, and Shear), Rolling, Forming, Drill, Punch, Milling, and Lathe.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Gathers details and compiles data to estimate all production costs per specifications. Considers raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, labor, and transportation for estimations.
• Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
• Receive/compile inputs from manufacturing, engineering, and vendors to finalize costs.
• Must be able to interpret blueprint drawings, structural drawings, and specifications with the ability to quote prices on the spot, accurately.
• Able to forecast project costs.
• Work directly with suppliers / vendors in obtaining estimates for products / services.
