POSITION SUMMARY
Since 1999, Chevy Chase Trust has provided wealth management to individuals, families and foundations using thematic investing in individual securities. Chevy Chase Trust is looking for an Equity Research Analyst to join our research team to assist in thematic research. This encompasses identifying and monitoring themes that will bring economic change powerful enough to influence corporate performance across multiple sectors. Within thematic research, the Equity Research Analyst will identify, monitor, and recommend positioning of individual names across multiple sectors and geographies to the Chief Investment Officer.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- The analyst will attend periodic company events, trade shows, analyst meetings, and sell-side conferences to learn more about covered areas.
- While traditional equity evaluation methods are necessary, such as basic modeling or valuation techniques, Chevy Chase Trust places emphasis on how long-term trends will affect a company and thus factors such as competitive position and corporate strategy are highly important.
- A significant portion of the analyst’s time will be spent researching, covering, and presenting on between one and three themes.
- The analyst will be responsible for providing regular updates (including earnings) to the investment team and research team as well as recommending positioning among covered themes, sectors, industries, and/or stocks.
- The analyst will ensure that Chevy Chase Trust effectively communicates (in written verbal and other forms) the key concepts inherent in the analyst’s theme, its evolution and stocks embodying the theme. This will involve working in partnership with Marketing, Sales, and other functions as a content expert and will also involve periodic meetings or presentations to select clients, prospects and other audiences.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS / ABILITIES):
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- General knowledge of investment products.
- The ideal candidate will be passionate about identifying changes in the world and how they will affect companies across multiple sectors.
- Ability to follow through on projects in a timely manner.
- Familiarity with the technology sector and technology investing is preferred.
- Proficiency and experience using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
- Experience with FactSet and/or Bloomberg is a plus.
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- 3-5 years of relevant financial experience
- A Bachelor’s degree is required
