DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, responsible and accountable for all activities and competencies related to OR equipment tracking, transport, assembly, delivery, retrieval, and maintenance. Provides support and acts as a resource person to the operating room staff and surgical team, as well as to clinical sites on the La Jolla campus. Contributes to continuous quality improvement projects and activities. Completes orientation and training for staff from other sites and manages call and scheduling for all of the OR assistants. Coordinates with vendors and biomed for repairs. Assists with diagnostic troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of sophisticated and complex electronic, electromechanical, and biomedical equipment. Provides technical assistance to senior level technicians.
Performs scheduled maintenance and repair on a variety of equipment to ensure high performance and cost savings and coordinates vendor repairs in accordance with departmental needs. Completes appropriate documentation for device repair and equipment support and works with vendors to do preventative maintenance. Assists with pre-purchase evaluation of equipment, gets involved in capital meeting purchases and planning and ensures preventative maintenance is completed as required by regulatory bodies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in medical equipment repair and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- 5+ years of appropriate OR equipment management experience.
- Must have a valid CA Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic electronics training
- Experience with Epic and RTLS inventory management
- Associate's degree in electronics.
- AAMI Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Will be required to be part of the rotating on-call staff covering nights, holidays and weekends.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be willing to travel for educational purposes.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $76,149 - $94,691 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $36.47 - $45.35
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
