The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Mechanical Services has a full-time vacancy for Equipment Mechanic Foreman II.

SUMMARY: To supervise the operation of a highway maintenance equipment repair facility and maintain NHDOT motorized equipment fleet.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate’s degree in auto mechanics from a recognized college or technical school. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Six years of experience as a journeyman mechanic in a large garage with some experience in operating heavy equipment, two years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity such as a manager or assistant manager. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification: Department of Transportation: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a valid Class B Commercial Operator’s license (CDL-B) with airbrake endorsements. Must be forklift certified to operate a forklift related to heavy component repairs. Must certify to perform State of New Hampshire Motor Vehicle Inspections within 30 days of hire. Must obtain Vehicle Air Conditioning certification within six months of employment. The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree

36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree

54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Shall provide own standard assortment of automotive mechanic tools thru 1”, 26 mm diameter and 1/2” drive, test light, and basic digital multi meter.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prioritizes, schedules, plans, assigns, assists, directs and reviews work of repair technicians to ensure correct and timely maintenance, inspection, repair and preparation of fleet equipment.

Diagnoses all fleet equipment component malfunctions utilizing computer software and computer repair manuals, determines correct procedure of repair/modification, secures correct parts, performs the repair, and road tests vehicles and/or equipment to verify completed repairs.

Computer generates bi-weekly time reports, mileage reports ands weekly stock orders. Maintains computer based equipment work orders, life history records and stock inventory records. Recommends employee leave and other routine administrative duties.

Researches, locates and procures equipment repair components and services to minimize equipment downtime and to ensure operational safety.

Supervises and/or conducts equipment repair facility safety inspections to ensure compliance with appropriate Federal, State and local regulations and to promote a safe working environment.

Responds to emergency roadside repairs as required providing maximum level of repair service on a 24-hour basis.

As required assist with maintenance of fuel depot.
