Position Summary
This position will provide the statistical analysis and epidemiologic support required to produce reliable and accurate results from the Oklahoma Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) and The Oklahoma Toddler Survey (TOTS) ongoing surveillance systems. It will provide leadership in interpreting results from the analysis necessary for selected topics of need and interest. It will direct the survey processes, including the adherence to study design and survey protocols. It will also provide leadership in survey research and in survey redesign with the CDC and other project funding streams. This position will also work on cross-cutting data related projects. The MCH Epidemiologist must have an understanding of research methods and be versatile with statistical software, preferably SAS or software for complex survey data analysis, SUDAAN.
Job duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop, maintain, and modify survey protocols for proper documentation, institutional review board approvals, and grant requirements.
  • Disseminates analytical results and interpretation by means of reports, journal articles, and other data visualization software such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Constructs weighted datasets to use for appropriate data analyses.
  • Review and approve the sharing of data through the CDC, including reviewing and approving proposals for research and other studies.
  • Collaborate with other analysts, researchers, and epidemiologists to utilize PRAMS and TOTS findings for planning, evaluation, and other descriptive reports.
  • Perform complex analyses on data to describe associations and relationships among the data collected from the survey systems.
  • Assure adherence to confidentiality rules in data sharing agreements and analytic proposals.
  • Works to access information from other data sources (administrative data, vital records, or survey data) for understanding women's and perinatal health outcomes and utilization in other populations.
  • Provide data support for the Title V Grant and the five-year Title V Needs Assessment.
  • Provide an accurate interpretation of findings; assist others in the correct use, interpretation, and application of findings.
  • Directs sampling, data collection, and data management procedures.
  • Supervise revisions to survey instruments, including the validation of survey questions and scientific logic of how the data are to be used.
  • Assures internal and external confidentiality in the use of all data, including the vital statistics used to build the surveillance systems.
  • Provide analysis and results on request from program staff, media, policy makers, and other interested parties.
Education and Experience
Level I - Master's degree in public health, biological, medical, or health science which includes 6 semester hours in epidemiological methods and 6 semester hours of other epidemiological coursework and 9 semester hours in statistical methods and analysis.
Level II - Master's degree in Epidemiology and one year of experience in a field involving the use of epidemiological research, investigation, and analysis.
Level III – Requirements consist of those identified in Level II and three years of experience in a field involving the use of epidemiological techniques and analysis; or a doctorate in epidemiology and one year of qualifying experience.
