Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Southeast Environmental Services team has an immediate need for an Environmental Technician to join our growing practice in Tampa or Sarasota, Florida. The successful candidate will get to work on a variety of projects across energy, transportation, real estate, and/or local government markets.

 

Responsibilities

  • Completes project field tasks, including environmental sampling, field observations, wetland delineations, gopher tortoise surveys and relocation.
  • Assists data entry, data analysis, and in preparation of environmental reports.
  • Assists Environmental Scientists and/or Project Managers with preparing federal, state, and local permit applications.
  • Sets up instruments and/or stations to monitor and collect data. Installs, inspects, maintains, and operates equipment.

Skills and Attributes

  • Ability to understand and maintain sampling equipment and vehicles
  • Ability to think critically
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to handle harsh field conditions and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excels in working outdoors and adapting to changing conditions

Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • 0-2 years of training as an Environmental Technician
  • Associate degree in a Natural or Environmental Science major a plus
  • Mechanical knowledge a plus

Hiring Salary Range - $19/hr - $23/hr. However, the final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, and experience.
