Job Description

Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and decision-making processes.
  • Oversee spill response team actions, ensuring timely and effective response to incidents and managing on-scene coordination to minimize environmental impact.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant environmental regulations, emerging trends, and best practices, and propose necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to support regulatory compliance audits and inquiries.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor environmental programs, taking into account local, State, and Federal regulations to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Manage the installation aspects of environmental plans and permits, ensuring adherence to permits issued by regulatory agencies at the local, State, and Federal levels.
  • Coordinate and conduct inspections of environmental programs to verify compliance with applicable Navy, State, Federal, and local regulatory policies.
  • Serve as the command's technical expert in one or more program or functional areas, providing expertise and guidance to ensure successful implementation and compliance.
  • Foster a culture of environmental stewardship by promoting awareness, training, and communication on environmental policies and practices within the organization.
  • Develop and generate a variety of reports, including annual and biannual reports for regulatory agencies, facility operating reports, and annual compliance certifications.


Qualifications


Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting requirements, providing advisory information, evaluating compliance, and recommending change and control measures using knowledge of policies, operations, work practices, and environmental parameters of Federal agencies, states, or other entities; 2) Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of environmental program operations; 3) Preparing and conducting briefings or training programs, leading group conferences, and writing reports and letters; 4) Making modifications to establish methods, procedures, or approaches to solve problems relating to hazardous material and environmental emergency response systems; and 5) Communicating with employees, managers, contractors, and others to establish effective working relationships and to motivate others to a particular course of action.
