Job Description

Duties

  • Maintains up to date knowledge on internationally accepted carbon accounting methods and systems.
  • Engages with DFC borrowers, investees, portfolio companies, grantees, and partners to ensure that they receive the necessary support and advice to ensure climate considerations are reflected in their operations and policies.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of DFC's carbon accounting systems (including offsets and net-zero accounting), greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets, and climate risk screening methodology.
  • Conducts technical research on climate hazards, risks, and risk mitigation strategies including sustainable building solutions, energy and water efficiency, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and analytical methods in support of climate policies.
  • Assists non-technical professionals to understand climate change and disaster risks in a practical way to further embed climate resiliency into DFC transactions.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than the closing date of this announcement.
You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to 1) complete corporate greenhouse gas climate accounting inventories; 2) advise senior leadership on global climate change financing architecture within the international context; and 3) provide expert and authoritative guidance to senior officials with respect to innovative approaches to far-reaching coalition building and the formulation of international program initiatives and strategic partnerships, in the area of climate change and sustainability.
Note: Education is not substitutional at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
