This Opportunity

WSP USA Environment & Infrastructure, Inc – Portland, Maine office has an opportunity available for an Environmental GIS Specialist. We are looking for a candidate with 3-5 years’ experience with skills in environmental GIS figure creation, data processing, evaluation and presentation. The position will also provide database management support to project teams.

Your Impact

  • Manage geodatabase projects and global positioning satellites (GPS) collection efforts.
  • Support project teams with GIS-related output for environmental sampling plans and reports
  • Provide graphical interpretation of environmental analytical data, including groundwater plume maps, chemical distribution maps and groundwater potentiometric surface maps.
  • Coordinate GIS tasks with Project Data Managers.

The ideal candidate for this position is a team player, organized, enthusiastic, focused, self-motivated individual with a strong desire to learn and adhere to established work procedures and standards.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Programming in Python.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Desktop.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members, as well as independently.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • BA or BS in Geology, Geography, Biology, Chemistry or other Environmental related science.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Familiarity in processing LiDAR and GPS data.
  • 1-3 years of experience with Environmental GIS procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, experimentation, and documentation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general metric system measurement units.
