About the Career:

GEL Engineering of NC, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team of professionals in our Asheville, NC office. As a member of the Field Services Group (reporting to the Field Services Group Leader), the Environmental Field Technician is responsible for the collection of environmental field samples and data at client sites as part of a multi-office team, including preparation of materials and equipment needed to complete field activities. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a can-do spirit and willingness to work hard in a team environment to achieve shared success.

What You ll Learn and Achieve:

Specific Duties

  • Demonstrates and supports GEL s core values
  • Execute all field work to meet specified GEL-quality standards and methods required by the project-specific tasks.
  • Collect, input, edit, and interpret field data, and complete necessary checklists and forms in both hard copy and electronic systems.
  • Meet timelines for delivery of all assigned work products in accordance with mutually agreed upon project schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental reports and other complex tasks under the direct supervision of project manager or supervisor.
  • Conduct routine tasks independently.
  • Ensure all instrumentation and equipment are calibrated and maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

General Duties

  • Ensure corporate safety policy and standards for a safe working environment are enforced. Remain current with all safety training.
  • Support and enforce company HR policies.
  • Maintain daily contact with members of the Field Services Group and frequent contact with other technical groups of the company.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Work at elevated heights (>100 feet).
  • College degree (BS in geology or environmental science preferred).
  • Willing to travel for extended periods of time.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong field sampling, electrical, and mechanical skills.
