We’re a group of talented artists, developers, character riggers, 3D modelers, in-house customer service agents, gamers and nerds of all stripes. Environment Concept Artist :

Sky Castle Studios is currently seeking a talented Environment Concept Artist with experience developing exciting key world art and playable terrain spaces. You will work with the Art Director and team on a wide variety of projects creating everything from rough sketches to finished artwork, with a strong focus on creating the style of the world, overworld map art, and playable hex terrain concept art. The ideal candidate is eager to collaborate in a team environment to help us tell amazing stories through vivid and thorough environments.

Environment Concept Artist Responsibilities:

• Work with the Art Director to set a strong vision for environment look development
• Generate rough ideation sketches into finished high-quality environment renderings
• Presenting work in an organized, clear manner for progress reviews and approval (including scale reference)
• Mapping out scenery elements and props that help drive story
• Interpreting initial ideas and creating quick sketch drafts for review
• Participating in feedback meetings and noting changes to be made
• Presenting concepts, research, and references to the team
• Work with designers to create story-reach world maps
• Contribute creative and original ideas towards aspects of production and development
• Research subject matter relating to objectives to ensure an authentic experience

Environment Concept Artist Requirements:

• A portfolio of work demonstrating strong artistic and storytelling ability
• Solid understanding of aesthetically pleasing environments, architectural design, geography, and storytelling interior design
• Ability to efficient approach to creating artwork, balancing when to deeply develop vs. iterate lightly and quickly
• Ability to interpret and follow reference material to create clean, detailed, and accurate environments and sets
• A real-world understanding of proportion, depth, scale, and physical space
• Ability to take direction and feedback from multiple stakeholders as well as a strong ability to contribute your own ideas
• Excellent environment painting abilities for key world art, as well as strong sketching abilities for rough conceptualization
• Proficient in Photoshop

Environment Concept Artist Preferred Skills:

• Experience with hex concept art, overworld map art, and environment art
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a concept artist or graphic designer
• Knowledge and understanding of the TTRPG and Video Gaming industries
