You will drive the identification, assessment, analysis, and solving of a broad spectrum of Entertainment safety issues across the Disney Cruise Line Fleet. This will include Youth Activities, Family and Adult Programming, Disney Live Entertainment and Port Adventures & Recreation both on board and two Island destinations. You will also be an important technical resource in the design, implementation, and sustainment for all Disney Cruise Line Entertainment projects.

This position will be US based but will be required to sail 25% to 40% of the time. You will report to a Team Leader of Safety (Quality Assurance & Compliance Director) with a dotted line to VP Entertainment Operations.

Responsibilities/You Will

  • Improve performance, review source material (rules, codes, laws and standards) identify and share industry practices
  • Ensure implementation of applicable safety standards and established regulations
  • Develop, establish, and provide direction on operational procedures & policies that enhance the Entertainment compliance program & audit performance to the established standards.
  • Provide coaching & direction to all levels within the organization on how to best implement procedures to meet company policies.
  • Work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Review new rules & regulations to interpret & develop updated policy/procedures for all impacted operations.
  • Participate in the Disney Live Entertainment Design Assurance Process including blue sky, design development and review, hazard analysis, testing, and project implementation
  • Lead and/or participate in Entertainment incident investigations and follow up
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits across the fleet including Tier 2 Audits where applicable
  • Drive development, implementation, and sustainment of safety programs, performing job task analysis, analyzing injury and illness trend data, evaluating safety performance, and identifying opportunities to improve safety performance
  • Actively participate in Hazard Analysis meetings providing robust subject matter expertise, hazard predictions, and risk evaluation support and ensuring proper mitigations, implementation, training, and documentation
  • Have a deep knowledge and understanding of all Entertainment Operations
  • Implement Safety Management Systems (SMS) updates accordingly to ensure policy changes are verified & consistent with compliance with all standards.
  • Maintain relationships and work as part of a team within a matrix environment with all levels of leadership and employees
  • Monitor & verify compliance with appropriate domestic & international regulations
  • Collaborate with and inform representatives from federal agencies
  • Use critical thinking, independent decision making, & influencing skills when conducting audits and inspections and ship visits to verify compliance with appropriate laws, procedures, & company standards.
  • Engage and collaborate with global and local partners to drive and ensure consistency across the Segment regarding Entertainment Safety

Basic Qualifications/You Will Have

  • Project management experience
  • Experience with training delivery at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with strategic thinking, prioritization, and initiation of tasks
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Knowledge of hazard alignment and risk assessment processes
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards
  • Basic Entertainment, occupational safety or engineering experience
  • Resolve conflicts and diffuse difficult situations
  • 10+ years of industrial safety experience required in a related field (petro chemical, construction, maintenance, manufacturing, hospitality, entertainment/theatrical, transportation, distribution/warehouse)
  • Experience with child safety principles
  • Ability to travel
  • Experience with proper writing, speaking, and presenting to all levels (inclusive of audit documentation)
  • Ability to build effective relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with global partners and government agencies

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education

  • CIH or CSP certification
  • Master’s Degree
