Job Summary: The Endoscopy Tech I performs technical duties associated with the perioperative care and treatment of endoscopic patients.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Cleans, disinfects and stores endoscopes according to manufacturer guidelines and departmental policies.
Assists with admission, procedure, and discharge. Sets up procedure rooms correctly for ordered procedure. Performs support of all phases of care, taking vital signs, collecting data, collecting specimens, turning rooms, transporting and discharge.
Employs Universal Protocol on all patients and during all procedures observing special needs of patients in isolation.
Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently without significant variance from expected practice.
Handles instruments from basic to complex procedures with multiple services. Assists physician/RN intra-procedure with all demonstrated competencies for Endoscopy Technician.
Provides assistance to the endoscopist by manipulating the endoscope.
Assists with assembling, preparing and checking for proper function of supplies and equipment needed, using knowledge of physician preferences to quickly and accurately setup and turn procedure rooms.
Displays well developed surgical conscience and aseptic technique with ability to set up sterile procedures and properly monitor and maintain sterile field to minimize transfer of infection and contamination.
Assists with keeping unit and equipment clean, organized, orders supplies and maintains inventory. Removes and reports malfunction or repair needs appropriately.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
- 2 years combined experience as a CNA/MST/PCA/EMT tech or endoscopy technician.
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
