Job Summary
August 2023 RN Fellowship Program
**Applicants may apply to only one unit for the August program. Multiple applications will not be considered**

Pay Range
Minimum $35.93 Midpoint $46.70 Maximum $57.48
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Emergency Room - RN Fellowship – Clinical Nurse I or II, FT, Variable Shifts, Days/Nights
Our RN Fellowship Program is a 10-week program designed for the experienced nurse who wants to be trained in pediatrics or another specialty.
Reporting to the Manager of the RN Fellowship Program in collaboration with the unit leadership team, this position is responsible for the planning and delivery of family-centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Upon successful completion of the RN Fellowship program, the nurse transitions in to the unit of hire and reports to the Nursing Manager.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner; Ability to work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others; Ability to prepare timely and accurate documentation and reports; Ability to perform work according to CHOC policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate family-centered patient care based upon age appropriateness and cultural and spiritual needs; Excellent customer satisfaction skills; Effective communication skills
  • Clinical Nurse I Fellow - RN with at least 6 months but less than 2 years of acute care nursing work experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Internal applicants only (current CHOC employees): Associate of Science in Nursing from an approved school is acceptable with BSN in-progress (BSN must be obtained by October 31st, 2024)
  • Clinical Nurse II Fellow - RN with 2 years or more of acute care nursing work experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an approved school (required for external applicants, preferred for internal applicants)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in response to unexpected changes in work load/staffing; Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations.
  • California RN license
Interviews will be conducted the weeks of May 29th and June 5th. Selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview via phone or email by May 26th. Unfortunately, if you are not contacted for an interview, you have not been selected to proceed in the process.
