Job Purpose: As a member of the risk and safety services team, which includes risk management, environmental health and safety and emergency management, the Emergency Manager will administer the Emergency Operations Plan for the University, lead university response, continuity, and recovery operations, and support the other functions of safety and risk mitigation of the team. Minimum Qualifications:
An understanding of all five mission areas for emergency preparedness (prevent, protect, respond, recover, mitigate) and collaborative planning standards.
Experience establishing and managing an EOC.
The ability to research, develop and write guidelines, procedures, and planning documents.
A general understanding of safety and risk mitigation practices and procedures.
Ability to analyze factors concerning risk, liability, safety, and occupational hazards which lead to effective solutions based upon the human and financial resources available to address the issue.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with a wide constituent group of university employees, students, other universities, public safety officials, and the general public.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form to audience members that posses various levels of knowledge regarding emergency preparedness and risk management practices.
Ability to accumulate a large amount of data, organize the data into a comprehensive, cohesive fashion, provide ready access to this data for those needing access, and ensure the data is reviewed/updated as required.
Ability to use Microsoft Office 365 software and programs. Experience in working with emergency notification software.
Knowledge of applicable state laws, regulations, codes and guidelines as related to program areas.
Computer skills, including the ability to evaluate software applications to maximize efficiency.
