Duties
As a Emergency Management Specialist, you will:
- Develop and maintain Continuity of Operations (COOP), Devolution and Reconstitution Plans, alternate sites, cadre/team assignments, emergency contact data, and access to applicable vital agency records
- Plan, develop, and implement strategic, operational, and tactical procedures, protocols, and templates to execute public health emergency management functions
- Work to prevent, protect from, prepare for, respond to, recover from and/or mitigate natural or man-made emergencies
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct individual and collective training in accordance with public health and emergency management related directives, regulations, policies, laws, standards and guidance and develop supporting training materials
- Participate on a variety of interagency committees and workgroups dealing with emergency management planning and response activities
- Review Incident Action Plans, recommend emergency management goals and objectives, identify response capability limitations, and recommend proposed tactics for coordinating response activities
- Provide technical assistance on public health preparedness, response, and recovery activities associated with natural and/or man-made disasters to governmental and non-governmental partners

Qualifications
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience related to being a team participant in the development, coordination, and presentation of training and exercises in accordance with public health and emergency management related directives, regulations, policies, laws, standards and guidance and developing supporting training material.
Minimum Qualifications for GS-13:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience providing direction in planning, developing, coordinating, and conducting individual and collective training or exercises in accordance with public health and emergency management related directives, regulations, policies, laws, standards and guidance and developing supporting training material.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
