Job Description
For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for ED Techs - (CNA):


  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time CNA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
  • 1+ years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
  • 0-1 years of experience eligible for $2,500 (full time)
  • Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.


The Maine Medical Center (MMC) emergency department (ED) is Maine's only American College of Surgeons Level One verified trauma center. Located in Portland, the MMC ED is also home to Maine's only pediatric emergency department . Our state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the needs of a high-volume patient population from Maine and New Hampshire, as well as visitors from all over the world. Patients seen in the ED may be experiencing Chest pain, Falls greater than 10 feet resulting in injury, Heart attack, Seizures, Suicidal thoughts or actions, mental health crisis, Physical attack or rape and Poisoning among other conditions.


  • Position Summary


The Emergency Care Technician I (ECT II): Assists the health care team in organizing and implementing basic department activities (stocking, results retrieval, patient tracking). Assists the health care provider in patient care: (vital signs, pulse oximetry, ECG, phlebotomy and simple procedures).

  • Ability to read, write and speak English in order to follow simple oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.

  • Ability to maintain professional manner even under stressful situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staff
  • Coordinates total nursing care for patients ranging in age from infants to the elderly, as appropriate to discipline. Participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other members of the health care team in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Knowledge of nursing processes; structure and functions
  • Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results
  • Ability to respond the changing workload based on patient census and to direct, supervise and evaluate care in order to individualize nursing care provided to patients

  • License/Certifications: Active nursing license.; Current BCLS required for all; BLS, ACLS, PALs, and TNCC required.; Other certifications specific to department policies may be required.
