Electronics Technician
Contract (242 Day Calendar)
FTE: 1.0
Anticipated Start: June 1, 2023

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
This position is benefits eligible
Starting wage: $49, 211 annualized (74-B)
Purpose Statement
The Electronics Technician maintains indoor/outdoor sound equipment, televisions, security systems, fire alarms, etc. in safe operating condition, provides information on proper operation of various electronic systems; researches, designs, installs, programs, modifies, inspects, repairs, analyzes, updates reports and documentation; and provides materials at job site as
required to complete tasks.
This position reports to the Supervisor of Technical Services.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school or equivalent
2. Ability to pass a fingerprint and criminal background check
3. One (1) or more years of job-related experience
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced using data-based software
5. Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and
verbal communications
6. Ability to operate standard office equipment; phone, copy and fax machines etc.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite skills
2. Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment
Essential Functions
1. Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects/work orders efficiently.
2. Install electronic equipment: security systems, PA systems, fire alarms, etc.
3. Maintain tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
4. Monitor sound equipment, PA systems, fire alarms, security systems, and telephones to ensure that equipment is working properly and safely.
5. Orient school personnel on the proper uses of DVDs, security systems, PA systems, fire alarms, voice mail, etc.
6. Repair electronic systems including communications, audio visual, alarms, television, DVD sound systems, PA systems, security systems, fire alarms, etc.
7. Research, inspect, design, install and maintain the equipment for all the systems to ensure system/equipment is working properly and old equipment is updated as needed.
8. Stock equipment and supplies to maintain required inventory levels.
9. Transport various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) to required job sites.
10. Communicate and work effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders.
11. Participate in meetings, workshops, seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or or gathering information required to perform functions.
12. Work under limited supervision, utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies, accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines.
13. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position.
14. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required.
15. Speak, read, write, analyze, understand, and follow written and verbal communication in English including grammar and punctuation; listen to, and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing.
16. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively.
17. As needed, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
18. Other duties as assigned.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
