The Peabody Essex Museum is one of the nation’s most dynamic art museums encompasses and operates over 500,000 square feet of gallery and public space, including 26,000 square feet of exhibition galleries and 55,000 square feet of galleries devoted to collection installations and interpretation.
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Electrician II performs skilled level electrical work in the preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of physical plant electrical equipment, fire and security alarm systems, access control systems, facility controls, and HVAC equipment. The Electrician II is also the principal installer, programmer and operator of the museum’s fire, security, access control and video surveillance systems. He or she plans, installs and maintains high and low voltage circuitry and equipment.
The position requires at least 10-15 years of progressively responsible experience as a Massachusetts licensed electrician. Must possess a valid Massachusetts Journeyman and/or Massachusetts Master Electricians license with clean record. Must be available to work permanent full time 40 hour per week shifts from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday and be available to work overtime and respond to off – hour emergencies as and when needed.
