PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Project Manager / Superintendent position will be responsible for day to day activities in the areas of licensing, estimating, scheduling, staffing, and overall project management for assigned opportunities, estimates, or projects. This position will add essential core competencies to our existing staff in Jackson, SC to support and expand our operations in that location. This position will be required to perform periodic travel to setup, direct, and closeout assigned projects in the field in addition to supporting the estimating team on electrical estimates. Experience with power generation (nuclear strongly preferred) and industrial manufacturing projects is essential to adding the value sought through the addition of this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability/competency and willingness to complete (pass) electrical trade exams in multiple states
  • Responsible to ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner in compliance with safety, and quality
  • Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Field Work Packages (FWPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and project schedule and budget
  • Maintain lines and levels – verify as built conditions
  • Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, training records, T&E and rental records, manpower reports, owner support requests, FWP documents, etc.
  • Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements
  • Perform internal and external, verbal and written status reports
  • Ensure the work is carried out in accordance with QA Programs and project quality guidelines
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
  • Must be able to understand crew build-ups and Unit Rate Conversions in developing the estimate.
  • Plan, supervise and approve the work of own forces and subcontractors on the project including determining methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals and work schedules
  • Utilize project master schedule to help create detailed look ahead schedules with subcontractors
  • Assist in developing recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy
  • Participate in basic layout, preparation of work instructions, field engineering activities, etc.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and updating of project schedule
  • Monitor and Control the project budget
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of trades and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the project
  • Maintain excellent relationships with client, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and public
  • Ability/competency, willingness, and experience to develop project estimates based upon customer supplied RFP information, site walkdowns, and stated assumptions
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Education to include a technical college diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years industrial and subcontractor supervision experience in the automotive, food and beverage, manufacturing, or power generation industry (Power Generation strongly preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand CGC Cost Reports
  • Ability to perform take-offs and read construction drawings
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Basic presentation skills
  • Good communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential
  • Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements
  • Ability/competency to successfully supervise projects ranging in value from $25k to $25M
  • Ability to pass master electrician and/or other state trade exams
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Fiscal responsibility as required by the client agreement.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment
  • Must be able to be badged at a US Nuclear facility and/or US Government facility
