The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory also has an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations around the globe. We are dedicated solely to the support of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
You will work in an agile engineering team designing embedded control systems and proposing technology advancements in areas such as sensors and operator interfaces for the next submarine platform SSN(X) for the United States Navy. You will define system requirements for control systems including functional and interface requirements and collaborate with cross functional teams (e.g. hardware and software engineers) to define these. You must balance autonomy and interdependence so your team can deliver high-quality technical products. You will have a strong team around you and mentorship from experienced colleagues. You will work with the commercial shipyards who are designing the next propulsion instrumentation and control systems for SSN(X).

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university required.
Preferred Skills
Preferred degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Strong Academic performance - GPA 3.0 or above
Academic Project, Intern or Co-Op experience in Systems, Hardware, or Software Development
Capable of a big picture systems-oriented approach.
Ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex technical ideas.
