Electrical Engineer I Jobs

CONMED is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to join the Engineering team based in Utica, NY. The engineer will collaborate with cross functional teams to improve and support advanced surgical devices and instruments which are used in laparoscopic, robotic, and open surgery products. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop tests and processes to identify the root cause of electronic systems problems, and provide corrective/preventative actions (i.e., follow CAPA process).
• Analyze and optimize medical instrument firmware/software and troubleshoot failure modes.
• Maintain and support production automation process and systems
• Drive sustaining engineering activities and continuous improvement of existing products and production equipment, as well as some support for new product development.
• Assist with designing and updating electronic circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and BOM’s and make design decisions based on electronic component specification comparisons.
• Participate in compliance and safety testing of various electrical systems.

Required Qualification:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or technical equivalent degree

Preferred Qualifications:

• Design experience for medical instruments
• Working knowledge of analog and digital designs with the ability to troubleshoot to the component level.
• Working knowledge of analog and digital electrical engineering signals and measurements
• 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience
• Strong balance of theoretical and practical experience and must be "hands on" in an electronics lab environment and have experience using basic test equipment
• Working knowledge/experience with CAD tools such as Altium—layout, logic experience is preferred

Disclosure as required by applicable law, the annual salary range for this position is 60,000 to 90,000. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level. The salary range is CONMED’s good faith belief at the time of this posting.
