Summary/Objective:


The EHS Specialist serves in a supporting role to help guide and keep the facility on track with all Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance standards. This individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, completing tasks such as updating safety-related documentation (LOTO procedures, Written Programs, training modules, etc.), conducting New Hire Orientation, performing site specific audits, conducting and leading incident and near miss investigations, tracking and reporting out metrics to plant leadership, participating in Safety Committee meetings. An EHS Specialist will also actively participate in administrative duties such as entering Injury/Near Miss information, training records, and inspection information into company electronic reporting system and following up on Worker’s Compensation claims. EHS Specialists are part of a larger team with the potential for upward movement within the EHS profession.

The position is office based, with requirements to spend time in each of our production areas. The productions area environment varies based on job position. You will be exposed to all weather elements, dust, weld fumes, gases, loud noise, heavy machinery, and moving mechanical parts.


This position requires mandatory Personal Protection Equipment while working in our production areas. The PPE required, but not limited to, is as follows: Safety glasses, hearing protection, safety toe footwear, cut resistant gloves/sleeves.


Ideal Candidate Qualifications:


  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Great problem solving skills
  • Bilingual a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge and experience of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI guidelines and compliance
  • 1 to 3 years experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent
  • Self-motivator and takes initiative
  • GSP/ASP/CSP desired, but not required
  • Strong personal skills and communication skills
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies


Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs that meet OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain all records associated with Occupational Health & Safety, and update required logs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Regulations
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Collects and evaluates information on identified EHS issues and proposes recommendations/alternatives based on specialized knowledge and experience.
  • Monitor environmental compliance and manage reports.
  • Audits compliance of corporate EHS objectives
  • Administer and assist in all levels of EHS Training through a learning management system.
  • Coordinate with internal Injury Case Management team on work related injuries
  • Injury Case Management
  • Provide advice and counsel concerning EHS regulations and standards.

Supervisory Responsibility:


This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.


Physical Demands:


While performing duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. This position active – while performing this job the employee is regularly sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling. The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:


This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are decided by the hiring manager. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as needed.


Travel:


There is minimal to no travel with this position.
