AIR’s 2023 Virtual Summer Internship Program is designed to identify, attract, and hire the best collegiate talent that will drive creativity and innovation while enabling the organization to create a diverse and skilled talent pool. Spanning 10 – 12 weeks, AIR’s paid summer program provides Interns with various learning and networking opportunities that enhance their skillset and build lasting professional connections.
Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the Unites States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations.

We advance evidence in the areas of education, health, the workforce, human services, and international development to create a better, more equitable world.
- Conduct literature reviews to help support potential survey items.
- Supporting qualitative research projects with institutions, districts, and schools
- Provide technical support to respondents (e.g., triaging and answering questions)
- Data analysis and reporting of survey results; methodological survey research; supporting the drafting and review of products such as data documentation, Data Points, and blogs
- Conducting data quality assurance checks and basic statistical analyses to produce summary statistics
- Provide support for a variety of projects related to administrative data collection systems. Examples of systems include: Public Libraries Survey (PLS); National Museum Survey (NMS); Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC), a mandatory data collection that provides vital data on education equity; Common Core of Data (CCD), a comprehensive database of all public elementary and secondary schools and districts; and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), designed to address measurement needs outlined in the Higher Education Act, the Student Right to Know Act, The Civil Rights Act, and other executive orders related to postsecondary education and Federal Student Financial Aid programs.
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Knowledgeable in using statistical software programs such as R, SPSS, or Stata to analyze data – a plus but not required
- Must be a current student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in such fields as economics, psychology, sociology, statistics, computer science, public policy, public health or other social science related fields.
- Experience with and / or knowledge of data collection and analysis methodologies and techniques, such as survey design, analysis of program administrative data, and conduct of structured interviews, observations, and focus groups
Skills:
- Effective communicator that can work with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or the equivalent (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software)
- Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when writing
- Comfortable working in a virtual work environment
Disclosures:
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

This position offers $17.00 per hour. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the organization and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the salary for candidates that are based in the United States.
