Senator Chris Coons seeks an advisor to manage a broad portfolio of education and health care policy. The portfolio includes domestic health programs and issues, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and access to affordable coverage, care, and prescription drugs; early childhood, K–12, and postsecondary education; global health, including assistance programs and health security; reproductive rights; and national service, including strengthening and expanding AmeriCorps. Core responsibilities include developing close relationships with Delaware groups and interest, advancing bipartisan legislation, providing vote recommendations on legislation and nominations, planning events on key policy priorities, working with advocates and constituents, coordinating the work of the health and education team, and staffing the Senator at hearings and meetings. Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, a proven ability to overcome obstacles with creativity and innovative thinking, and a genuine passion for improving health care and education.
