General Summary

Economic Development analyst manages data for Economic Development throughout the entire information lifecycle. Provides strategic research, analysis, and interpretation that supports key economic development strategies and initiatives, as well as organization goals when appropriate. Creates reports and presentations pertaining to community characteristics, labor force, economic/fiscal impacts, land use and commercial development, etc. that are used to drive the business objectives of the office of Economic Development, and other City departments. Creates data visualizations like dashboards and interactive maps that are used for marketing campaigns, business development activities, presentations, and internal reporting. Works with developers and land owners to bring in the highest and best use of land within the City.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Gathering, conducting, analyzing, and interpreting research, making recommendations based on the data, and providing research results in a form that can be interpreted and understood by appropriate stakeholders.

Building automated pipelines to collect, analyze and present information and make it easily accessible to internal and external stakeholders.

Interpreting data, analysis, and insight into maps, reports and presentations.

Data mining, cleansing, and warehousing.

Analyzing and manipulating data to generate insight.

Working with internal and external stakeholders to collect and analyze data for economic development related request.

Evaluate and implement effective data management and visualization tools based on industry standards and best practices.

Building land use, financial and economic impact models in support of economic and community development decision making.

Draft bid packets for economic development needs.

Oversee development agreements, purchase and sell agreement and applicable contract within the economic development department.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Economic development, Data Science / Analytics, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Urban Planning, Finance, Business or a closely related field.

Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience with Economic development, data management, programming, or closely related fields.

Knowledge Of

COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES

Technology and automation tools and workflows.

Data quality, transformation and data asset management and platform APIs, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Objective-C and other programming languages and general programming concepts.

Commercial real estate markets.

Workforce characteristics.

Taxation.

Public policy related to economic development.

Microsoft Office products, Customer Relationship Management systems and other relevant software.
