About the Role

As an Early Career, Linux Engineer you'll play an integral role in supporting the company's technology operations and processes. You will partner with internal technology groups to repair critical systems to ensure that they are operational and productive. This role includes on-call duties on a rotational basis to investigate, troubleshoot, and remediate outages with other technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with database administrators, network administrators, storage technicians, and others to improve and remediate errors and outages.
  • Understanding of servers, the Linux operating system, and other related technologies to maintain and repair systems in a primarily VMware-based technology infrastructure.
  • Utilizing a ticketing system to seek out new tasks without constant supervision or direct ticket assignment.
  • Communicating effectively using Office 365-based email, Teams, and phone calls.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience working in, and performing troubleshooting with, a VMware vSphere hypervisor environment.
  • Provide support on rotational on-call basis, including occasional night/weekend
  • Able to operate on long-term tasks without constant supervision and ability to remain calm and methodical during periods of elevated stress
  • General understanding of networking (TCP/IP stack, switches, firewalls and routers), SMTP, HTTP(S), FTP, SFTP, IMAP, POP, CIFS, NFS, network attached storage/storage area network storage systems preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience in Linux Systems Administration (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE) and server troubleshooting, including operating system configuration, network settings, disk issues, CPU contingency, and memory issues.
  • 0-3 years of experience working with Linux shell and bash/sh shell commands and scripting, native editors (vi, nano, etc).
