Title: Arts Teacher

Reports To: Principal

Primary purpose:

• The teacher maintains a structured but caring and warm classroom allowing the students to thrive and develop with confidence and trust. The teacher is accessible, approachable, and welcoming, managing student situations with discretion, respect, and sensitivity.

Day to day responsibilities:

• Leverage experience and training to adjust teaching styles and curriculum to student needs.
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as necessary.
• Regularly adjust to flexible scheduling and frequent student changes.
• Communicate with parents through digital means and conferences to inform, update and discuss students’ progress.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Teach drama and or vocals to elementary school aged dyslexic children. Support a mid year and end of year concert (2-3 songs per concert).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.

Classroom management experience preferred. Class size is typically under 10 students.

• Experience working with children with learning disabilities preferred.
