As a Dosimetrist 2, you will be involved in the acquisition of pertinent patient physical construct, as needed, for dosimetry planning. To help achieve our mission, you will participate in the quality assurance of the integrity of patients' treatment charts. Your ability to perform brachytherapy treatment plans is of vital importance. Performing preplanning procedures for external beam treatment is expected. Providing clinical services according to radiation practice standards is required.

Role Summary

Inova Department of Advanced Radiation Oncology and Proton therapy is an international center for advanced cancer care and research, serving Northern Virginia, the Washington, DC metro area, and the world beyond. With locations across the northern Virginia, the Center can treat patient at Alexandria, Fair Oaks, Fairfax, Loudoun and Woodbridge where it’s most convenient for the patients. Across the system, equipment includes IBA Proteus Plus Proton (2 treatment gantries), 5 TrueBeams with HyperArc, 4 Trilogy, 1 M6 CyberKnife, 3 HDR units, 2 IORT units, 1 3T MRI and 6 simulation CTs, including 1 dual-energy 256 channel CT. External planning are done with Eclipse and RayStation while using Aria for patient data management.

Inova Department of Advanced Radiation Oncology and Proton therapy is seeking a PRN Dosimetrist 2 in Fairfax, Virginia. As a PRN Dosimetrist 2, you will be involved in the acquisition of pertinent patient physical construct, as needed, for dosimetry planning. To help achieve our mission, you will participate in the quality assurance of the integrity of patients' treatment charts. Your ability to perform brachytherapy treatment plans is of vital importance. Performing preplanning procedures for external beam treatment is expected. Providing clinical services according to radiation practice standards is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and mentoring to level I Dosimetrists.
• Performs secondary manual calculations of treatment monitor unit calculations.
• Assists Physics in acceptance testing, implementing and troubleshooting treatment planning software.
• Performs two-dimensional and three-dimensional (standard and complex) IMRT, SRS and SRT computerized external beam planning.
• Takes ownership for the correct billing entry for all physics planning procedures.
• Takes ownership for the correct billing entry for all Physics planning procedures.
• Performs intracavitary dosimetry. interstitial dosimetry and HDR dosimetry.
• Performs secondary check of treatment plans.

Minimum Qualifications

• Candidate has maintained education requirements to be a CMD (Certified Medial Dosimetrist) in good standing.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical dosimetry or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Must be Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certified by the American Association of Medical Dosimetry upon start.
