Abigail Kirsch is hiring a Doorman at Modernhaus in New York, NY.


The Doorman is responsible for providing welcoming and friendly service to incoming and departing guests, efficiently checking identification and evaluating occupancy.


Compensation: $30 an hour


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Follow proper timekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as they pertain to health, safety, sanitation, food handling, etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain focus throughout the shift. Adherence to the cell phone policy is required.
  • Promptly verbally greet guests, in addition to a smile and eye contact, and ensure immediate needs are met.
  • Set up the room at 15 Thompson Street.
  • Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuse entrance to guests who are intoxicated or disruptive.
  • Provide attentive, professional and welcoming service.
  • Ensure radio is returned after last call has been communicated by a manager.
  • Follow all sign in and out procedures for keys if applicable.
  • Communicate any large group walk ins or difficult guests to a manager immediately.
  • Performs all routine and assigned opening and closing procedures as well as side work. Is responsible for alerting management of any supply needs or related concerns prior to the start of service.
  • Ensure that customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs in accordance with the law.
  • Be able to answer guests’ inquiries and address any concerns in a thorough and helpful manner.
  • Maintain knowledge base of the company, location, hotel and any other pertinent information.
  • Review the guest list with a manager at the start of each shift.
  • Responsible for alerting management of any concern that may require escalated attention, whether it be guest or staff related.
  • Make an effort to recognize repeat guests and VIPs.
  • Adhere to cell phone policy.
  • Maintain organization, appearance, and cleanliness standards of all working areas, particularly the entrance, throughout each shift.
  • Communicate any need to step away with a manager prior to doing so.
  • Welcome guests back upon their departure.
  • Build a professional and genuine rapport with guests, encouraging repeat business.
  • At the start of each shift, ensure your radio is fully charged and functional.


General:


  • Know and follow all The Modernhaus emergency and safety procedures.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.


Standards:


  • Must have the ability to read, speak and understand English, and to follow written directions and verbal instructions in English.
  • Maintain professional behavior when in contact with guests, management and fellow associates.
  • Ability to work productively and cooperatively in a high volume, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Follow Policies and Procedures in training manuals and associate handbook.
  • Protect the assets of the property.
  • Always remember we are in a partnership with our guests, fellow associates and owners to provide quality service and profitability.

Qualifications:


  • Able to work a flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels (weekend and holiday availability required). We will endeavor to provide reasonable accommodations for sincerely held religious beliefs.
  • Previous experience in a quality restaurant/hotel operation or high-level bar.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Must be detail oriented and perform work accurately and timely.
  • Ability to effectively, professionally, and respectfully communicate with coworkers, supervisors, vendors, and guests.
  • Must be customer service oriented with positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively, independently or collaboratively, and efficiently with time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of New York State Health and Sanitation Guidelines.

  • Be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, burns, cuts, scrapes, and frequent exposure of hands to water.

  • Exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 12 hours per day and at least 60hours per week.
  • Frequently stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and kneel.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Handle heavy equipment and machinery.
