Job Description
POSTION: DOOR ATTENDANT


FLSA DESIGNATION: NON-EXEMPT


POSITION REPORTS TO: MANAGER ON DUTY


SALARY RANGE: $20.00 PER HOUR


POSITION PURPOSE:


The Door Attendant guards the entrance of a building, contributing to security measures and providing basic assistance. This entails opening doors for people and greeting them as they come in but can include other services such as carrying luggage and receiving packages.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:


  • Greet and welcome guests with the appropriate greeting of the day and direct them personally into the restaurant.
  • Might be subject to call taxis for guests, open doors as appropriate and give directions as
  • Greet visitors and guests on departure, wishing them a pleasant journey.
  • Communicating with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel.
  • Adhering to company policies and legal regulations.
  • Requested.
  • Investigating suspicious behavior, incidents, and security breaches.
  • Might be subject to open cars/taxis doors arriving at the hotel and give help to people in need, especially elderly, disabled, children, and people carrying heavy loads.
  • Apprehending trespassers and perpetrators.
  • Direct traffic at the entrance and to ensure that the entrance is not obstructed in any way.
  • Monitoring public access and ensuring the security of all personnel and visitors.
  • Greet and welcome guests and visitors to the restaurant.
  • Inspecting and patrolling premises regularly.


OTHER:


  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the organization. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Cipriani rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facilities. Employees who violate rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:


In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:


  • To protect restaurant and diners by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • To maintain a good and effective industrial relations climate with Cipriani management, and show a willingness to support any necessary change development of the services’ provided.


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:


  • Knowledge of the city, particularly tourist attractions.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Knowledge of state laws and regulations.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Flexible availability to include weekdays, weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely.
  • Auditory and visual abilities to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Trained in First Aid and self-defense.
  • The ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking.
  • Must be able to carry & lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of public safety, security operations, and procedures.
  • The ability to communicate clear directions to nearby local attractions, facilities, and services.
  • Outstanding surveillance and observation skills.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and continuously perform essential functions for an extended period of time.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:


  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by facility environmental systems.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the property on a timely basis.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:


Education: High school or equivalent education preferred.


Experience Required: Prior proven work experience preferred.


Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.


Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Company standards.
