Domestic Freight Forwarding Operations Manager

Summary

The Domestic Freight Forwarding Operations Manager is responsible for the oversight of all domestic freight shipments. This role focuses on reporting, monitoring, and improving the facilitation of shipments with carriers to provide cost-effective and timely solutions for our customers. This position is to focus on managing the domestic division to continuously grow the company’s success. This role requires a motivated leader and team player with exceptional communication and listening skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to be self-motivated and drive the team.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all transactions and activities
• Develop and maintain relationships with carriers and customers to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction
• Provide timely and accurate communication to customers and carriers regarding shipment status, delays, and issues
• Manage the full cycle of freight brokerage operations, including negotiating rates with carriers and coordinating shipments with customers
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Excellent skills for communicating and relating with both team members and customers.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation management software
• 4+ years’ experience specifically with domestic truck brokerage and domestic freight forwarding
• Demonstrated excellent leadership skills to encourage and guide co-workers relative to brokerage work

Physical Requirements

The position is in an indoor, office environment, and requires the ability to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors verbally and in writing, sit for periods of time, and operate typical office equipment which requires seeing and the use of a keyboard.
