Dock Supervisor - Shift 8AM - 530PM M-F

Position Overview
The Dock Supervisor will organize and oversee a team of Dock Associates (freight handlers) during a specified shift to ensure that freight is properly loaded and unloaded to facilitate on-time, error-free deliveries.
Essential Functions
  • Assists in the unloading and loading of freight when necessary.
  • Assists in the hiring and training of dock staff.
  • Oversee and lead a team of Dock Associates (freight sorting handlers).
  • Work directly with Customer, on-site
  • Manage daily end-of-shift reports, as well as performance updates
  • Assist with development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conducts daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and internal laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform conflict and issue resolution management as needed
  • Oversee dock operations to ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of all freight.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong understanding of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements and other related safety policies and best practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to monitor and maintain records.
  • Basic understanding of truck freight rates.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education And Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing and up to four hours per shift sitting and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold climates and in an environment with many noises and odors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
