Overview
A DOC Facilities & Operation Manager works as a member of the Facility Operations Team. This team assists the Director of Facility Operations with support and oversight of the correctional facility management teams and their operations. Facilities & Operations Managers are generally considered a subject matter expert in a variety of operational processes related to correctional facilities. Operations Managers assist in the development, implementation and review of all policies, post orders, directives, and standards that involve security, case management, inmate services, audits and supplemental housing that occur within the correctional facilities.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in a variety of settings including an office setting, within a correctional facility, in public meetings, out of state travel etc. A valid driver's license is necessary for required travel. Incumbent will be required to tour all areas of the facilities when on site and may expect to encounter hazardous conditions typical of such a facility, including danger of assault from inmates, exposure to communicable disease, and other factors. Since part of the incumbent's role will be to monitor the adequacy of the security and services provided in the facility, some hostility from employees of the facility may be encountered. Duties may entail significant amounts of evening, weekend, and emergency activity. Although direct contact with inmates is limited, such situations may arise creating a potential for physical assault and injury.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree AND three (3) or more years of experience in a supervisory or management position in the broad area of human services, INCLUDING two (2) years in either a correctional setting or in a role requiring frequent interaction with correctional facility administration and inmates, coordinating with a correctional facility program, or direct casework with correctional inmates
OR
Four (4) years of military experience AND four (4) or more years of experience in a supervisory or management position in the broad area of human services, INCLUDING three (3) years in either a correctional setting or in a role requiring frequent interaction with correctional facility administration and inmates, coordinating with a correctional facility program, or direct casework with correctional inmates.
OR
Associate's degree AND five (5) or more years of experience in a supervisory or management position in the broad area of human services, INCLUDING four (4) years in either a correctional setting or in a role requiring frequent interaction with correctional facility administration and inmates, coordinating with a correctional facility program, or direct casework with correctional inmates.
OR
High school diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) or more years of experience in a supervisory or management position in the broad area of human services, INCLUDING six (6) years in either a correctional setting or in a role requiring frequent interaction with correctional facility administration and inmates, coordinating with a correctional facility program, or direct casework with correctional inmates.
Note: A current, valid driver's license is required.
