Endicott College is seeking a Director of the Wellness Center

The Director of the Wellness Center is responsible for providing leadership to the Wellness Center, attending to the physical and mental health needs of students. In this inaugural position, the Director will create a strategic direction and implementation of broad-based education and service initiatives. The Director supervises the staff of the Center and develops relevant outreach activities and programs, builds relationships with internal and external constituencies, and aligns with appropriate campus partners to ensure an integrated approach to mental health, wellness, education, and outreach campus wide

Responsibilities:


Leadership and Administration


  • Establish networking with appropriate University departments and/or programs and initiate collaborative college health promotions.
  • Lead department operations and activities, including, but not limited to departmental goals, strategic planning, record maintenance, budget management, and evaluation.
  • Respond to a wide range of mental health concerns for students, including the coordination of assessments for acute and episodic incidents, provide a range of shortterm solutions and/or referral, as appropriate.
  • Facilitate presentations and training for faculty, staff and students on mental health and wellness to include but not limited to alcohol and other drugs, substance abuse, and suicide prevention.
  • Provide leadership, vision and strategic thinking for wellness initiatives at the college building a coalition to help achieve those goals.
  • Coordinate and develop a university wide framework for health and wellbeing, including partnerships with academic administration and human resources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional mental health and medical professionals.
  • The Director serves on the leadership team of the Student Affairs area and contributes to the overall educational strategy of the division.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive program that ensures the provision of professional, ethical, and high-quality short-term counseling, health services, consultation, referral, education & outreach services that support student learning & development
  • Provide leadership and guidance to health care providers in order to develop programs that assist in prevention and response care for students
  • Supervise counseling staff, administrative staff, and liaise with an external health care vendor responsible for providing nurse practitioners and medical staff.


Clinical Services


  • Provide or ensure the clinical supervision of Center’s counseling staff, graduate practicum or intern students.
  • Ensure high quality mental health care through the effective delivery of counseling and clinical appointments.
  • Consult as needed with all members of the campus community on psychological and wellness issues.
  • Serve on-call 24/7 in rotation with other Center staff, responding to campus mental health concerns, as necessary.


Programming


  • Monitor the University population for evidence of mental health issues and coordinate with campus partners in the management of programming and response protocols to address these issues.
  • Coordinate and participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of health promotions and services based on best practices in college student wellness.


Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in education, counseling, social work or related field.


Preferred:


  • Appropriate work experience in public health, or other health-related fields (not including internships)
  • Experience building community partners/forging new relationships to achieve a common goal
  • Relevant experience in conducting health education and outreach among young adult or college aged communities
  • Experience with community engagement in underserved communities
