Job Description

The purpose of the FIPP Director is to provide leadership and vision to the Family, Infant and Preschool Program. The mission of the Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) is to support and strengthen families in ways that enhance their growth and well-being. The FIPP Mission guides all activities of the Family, Infant and Preschool Program, including direct service, community partnerships model-demonstration, training and technical assistance, and research and evaluation. The Director is responsible for in ensuring that FIPP is a cutting-edge early childhood program with highly satisfied consumers, as well as supporting FIPP's ongoing contributions to early childhood intervention.

Salary Grade NC20 ; Recruitment Range $64,270.00 - $112,472.00

About the Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP):
The Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) is a community-based component of the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. FIPP is an early childhood intervention and family support program that has been producing research and providing supports and services in western North Carolina since 1972. The overall mission of the program is to (1) promote optimal health and development of young children, especially those with or at risk for disabilities, through supporting and strengthening families in ways that enhance their growth and well-being; and (2) promote the dissemination of research, resources and professional development opportunities to improve the delivery of services to families and children.

The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, North Carolina is an ICF certified facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state. JIRDC is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, & functional abilities.

Iverson Riddle Developmental Center is located just an hour from the Queen City of Charlotte, home of the Carolina Panthers and the City of Asheville, home to the world renowned Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following.
This position requires:
  • Documented knowledge in child and family development, child and family assessment, and/or child and family interventions.
  • Experience in supervision.

Management Preferences:
  • A Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Developmental Psychology, Family and Child Studies or a related behavioral science field (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology) and eight years of experience in related research, teaching and/or program administration with the population to be served.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in child and family development, child and family assessment.
  • Ability to perform independent research, writing and publication, public speaking, and related areas.
  • Experience in research design as well as knowledge of statistics.
  • Experience in program evaluation.
  • Knowledge of risk and promotion factors.
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities.
  • Ph.D., Ed.D, or Ph.D. candidate.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in a disciple specific to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in the area of assignment, including two years in a supervisory or consultative capacity;
or


Bachelor's degree in a discipline specific to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience in the area of assignment, including two years in a supervisory or consultative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
