JOB TITLE: Director of Secondary Education LOCATION: Central Office

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent WORK SCHEDULE: 12-M - 260 Days - 8 Hrs.
PAY GRADE: 134

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration and Supervision, and/or Curriculum and Instruction
2. Professional Licence with Endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK-12
3. Minimum of 3 Years Teaching and 3 Years Principal Experience (Secondary Education)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, the Director of Secondary
(6th-12th) facilitates instructional leadership, supports positive school climate, provides human resources support, fosters stakeholder communication and engagement, models culturally responsive and equitable leadership practices, demonstrates professional behavior and continuous learning, and monitors student academic progress.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge: Curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning; school improvement science, data analysis, program monitoring; selection, induction, support, evaluation, and retention of quality personnel; secondary operations and resource management; inclusive and responsive pedagogy and practices

Skills/Abilities: Oral and written communication; leadership, organization; time management; conflict resolution; public speaking; empathy; social intelligence

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervises and evaluates the performance of building leaders and division instructional specialists.
2. Builds leadership capacity in all areas of the CCPS Leadership Growth Model:
School Support Team Process (SST), Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), Professional
Learning Communities (PLCs), and Administrative Check-ins (ACI).
3. Supports the recruitment, screening, hiring, training of instructional personnel.
4. Works with secondary grade level and content teams to monitor instructional progress and identify adjustments, celebrations, and next steps.
5. Provides leadership and supervision to ensure the understanding and promotion of the educational goals and objectives of the division.
6. Assumes the responsibility for reviewing, evaluating, and communicating the results of all assessment programs/measures used by the schools.

7. Collaborates with building leadership teams on the formulation of schoolwide plans: annual goals, objectives, strategies, and measures.
8. Completes the development, budgeting, record keeping, implementation, evaluation and final assessment of all programmatic responsibilities.
9. Oversees all 6-12 instructional programming inclusive of: curriculum, curriculum guides, pacing guides; alignment of the written, taught and assessed curriculum; vertical articulation; innovative and engaging instruction and teaching methods; textbook adoptions/supplemental materials.
10. Plans and supervises remedial instructional programs, to include coordinating and developing the 6-12 summer school program.
11. Maintains liaison and active participation with educational leaders in curriculum and instruction at regional, state, and national levels.
12. Supervises secondary programming inclusive of gifted instruction, Governor’s School, career and technical education, advanced placement courses, dual enrollment, alternative education, credit recovery, adult education, Algebra Readiness, Project Graduation, and GED/ISAEP.
13. Utilizes data and needs assessment findings to develop, deliver, and monitor relevant and timely professional development opportunities for school-based personnel: job-embedded, professional learning communities, division-wide professional development days, conferences, and online courses/webinars.
14. Collaborates with personnel in Human Resources, Food Services, Maintenance,
Transportation, Instruction, Technology, and Budget and Finance to ensure alignment of activities related to student learning and teacher, administrator, and staff competencies.
15. Supports building leadership in providing a safe learning environment for staff and students.
16. Reviews, researches, prepares, and disseminates information pertaining to trends impacting secondary education.
17. Utilizes systemic practices, division policy, and fiscal and human resources to maximize organizational effectiveness.
18. Represents the division at community events, meetings, and secondary activities.
19. Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

EVALUATIONS:
Performance on the job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administration regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,324.00 - $159,255.00 per year
