Habitat For Humanity Overview


Habitat provides homeownership opportunities for working men and women who are unable to obtain a traditional mortgage in Davidson, Dickson, Wilson, Cheatham and Robertson counties. In support of our mission, Since being established in 1985, over 1,000 homes have been built, recycled or renovated locally, serving over 3,400 family members including over 2,200 children. Habitat operates three retail stores, known as the ReStore. The ReStore Director is a critical position in leading and growing the ReStore operation. Successful stores currently operate in Davidson and Dickson counties, with a new megastore scheduled to open in Wilson County in early 2024.


Job Summary


Leads the achievement of Habitat’s retail operations to produce budgeted net revenue while offering significant community engagement and meaningful employment opportunities. Through management oversight of the store managers in Davidson, Dickson and Wilson counties and other senior staff, responsible for the results of the stores while also leading overall inventory acquisition. Represents the agency to potential ReStore and DeConstruction sponsors, vendors, board, advisory council and staff in a professional manner and to support achievement of expected net revenue goals. Grows the deconstruction opportunities for the agency through oversight of that function. Conducts all activities in accordance with the Habitat policies and principles. Must have the ability to relate to people of different races, faiths, and income levels.


Development


KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:


  • Develop, nurture, maintain and increase donor relationships to provide inventory necessary to meet annual ReStore sales goals to generate budgeted net revenue for all stores in the ReStore family (Davidson, Dickson and Wilson counties)
  • Responsible for working with agency marketing function in developing ReStore and Deconstruction retail operation promotions and advertising pieces, web site and electronic sales capability for ReStore merchandise
  • Represents the ReStore to the public and attends special events and speaking engagements to promote the agency and the ReStore.
  • Coordinates with SVP of Philanthropy and Director of Regional Operations in expanding donor opportunities across department lines
  • Work with individuals, area businesses, vendors, contractors, referral sources and the DeConstruction Director to acquire donations for the necessary materials, services and volunteers for ReStore operations.


Operations


  • Ensure ReStore compliance with federal labor laws and company policies and procedures in partnership with HR Director.
  • Review service contracts annually and secure multiple bids using agency purchasing guidelines to secure the best possible price and quality for requisite ReStore facility services.
  • Maintain detailed materials and cost information on ReStore Operations working with Finance and Accounting in compliance with GAAP.
  • Responsible for budget for retail operations and all staffing plans.
  • Responsible for all ReStore operations management through supervision and oversight of all ReStore Managers
  • Evaluate business trends and store financial performance to ensure that financial revenue goals are met and that financial integrity is maintained.
  • Administer proper safety standards and develop safety policies and procedures to ensure that work environment and practices comply with all requisite safety standards necessary for a safe work environment.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of HFHGN partners in support of the agency.
  • Develop and implement special sales events intended to boost ReStore sales and create additional customer base and market share.
  • Provide leadership to staff related to customer service and facility safety, security, and appearance.
  • Ensure through ReStore Managers that Habitat ReStore vehicles are maintained regularly, inspected and insured annually.
  • Ensure compliance to HFHGN and ReStore Operation policies and procedures.
  • Develops together with the CAO and updates the business vision and plan for all agency retail operations.
  • Responsible for the overall operations and financial performance of the Davidson, Dickson and Wilson Divisions ReStore operations.


Essential Functions Of The Job


  • Leads growth of ReStore operations and ensures implementation of planned initiatives and achievement of financial goals
  • Effectively manages all ReStore operations and DeConstruction through oversight of managers and coordination with other agency staff
  • Represents the Habitat brand through ReStore excellence
  • Effectively and patiently communicates with, trains and develops others
  • Must have a valid State of Tennessee driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle of a size up to and including trucks with a box/bed length up to 26 feet in length.
  • Solicits and secures inventory donations for all ReStore operations.


Qualifications


  • A valid drivers License and an insurable driving record

  • College degree or combination of education and equivalent retail experience required.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in retail, with profit center management and/or warehouse operations, including management of both hourly and salaried staff members


Time Requirments


This position is Tuesday thru Saturday and will require 40+ hours per work week with some flexibility in days available. Satisfactory attendance is required. Includes occasional after hours work as required by key donors and special events.
