Director of Quality Assurance

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality and maintaining a smooth-running department in the organization. She/He will inspire, motivate and lead the quality teams to launch programs that will accelerate and achieve Sierra Circuits, Inc. Quality Objectives of zero defects.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Effectively set goals, delegate responsibilities, give directions, provide mentoring, support in developing and implementing strategic and growth plans for improvements and future growths/success of the company.
  • Ensure that there are written policies and procedures for all major functions related to quality, that they are widely followed, and that they are routinely updated and maintained.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding quality and promptly make appropriate adjustments.
  • Create a positive work environment for staff and build high morale and teamwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Create and communicate high expectations for direct reports and hold appropriate individuals accountable for results.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate product assurance program to prevent or eliminate defects in new and existing products.
  • Initiate and improve company-wide efforts to improve customer service experience.
  • Analyze, evaluate and present information concerning factors, such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, economic trends and design and development of new products for consideration by other members of the management team.
  • Develop quality system to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures within program, according to and consistent with company goals and policies.
  • Formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives, and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other staff to maximize quality and reliability and to minimize costs.
  • Play a lead role in mobilizing internal partners on Sierra Circuits Inc., most pressing quality issues.
  • Direct the strategic planning for the Quality department.
  • Facilitate manufacturing function with product design staff to establish, delineate and review program organizational policies, to coordinate functions and operations between departments, and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for direct reports on a timely basis and discuss/address performance issues (when necessary).
  • Manage activities (including vendors/suppliers) to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, services and products.
  • Be available for after-hours emergency call and flexible to work extended hours base on company needs.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.


  • Strong operational, problem solving and staff leadership skills.
  • Computer skills MS office.
  • 8-10 years demonstrated experience in overseeing Quality Assurance/Engineering department for small to mid-sized PCB organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, SPC, Six sigma and Lean Manufacturing methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent presentation skills.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours base on company needs.
  • 8+ years of successful leadership, managing large departments, and multi-functions.
  • Excellent leadership, prioritization, communication, analytic and reasoning skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of PCB manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in any Engineering discipline (preferred).
  • Superior knowledge in ISO9001, 55110 & 31032 Military standards, IPC performance standards and AS9100 required.
  • Ability to perform at the highest level in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to develop efficient business processes/procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in staff management and creating a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Possess strong time management and organization skills (must be able to multi-tasks).
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement long-range goals.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and development.
  • Ability to create systems and metrics to monitor success.
