Dometic Marine in Litchfield, Illinois has a 56-year history as a leading global manufacturer of aftermarket engine and drive parts for the marine industry. The SIERRA Brand includes marine products along with additional aftermarket parts and accessories for land-based applications. The Litchfield, Illinois facility is Dometic Marine’s aftermarket center for packaging & distribution.

Director of Product Management leads a team dedicated to the division’s organizational product lifecycle function. The Director focuses on the planning, forecasting, and marketing of products at all stages of their lifecycles. The Director’s objective is to maximize sales revenues, market share and profit margins. They will be responsible for analyzing market conditions and defining features or functions of products while leading a team of approximately 16 salaried employees.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Guides present and future product lines; appraises new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes
  • Manage product life cycle and contributes to ABC classification determination
  • Responsible for multi-channel management of the product line, including pricing and sales support activities; analyze market for growth potential, explore/identify new market requirements/opportunities.
  • Ensure a competitive, market relevant product program and, if required, adaptation of worldwide product program for local market(s)
  • Manages price schedules, discount/rebate programs and campaigns with Sales
  • Brand Management - build and maintain brands to maximize brand equity in coordination with the Marketing Manager
  • Responsible for product standard margin (before manufacturing & purchase variances)
  • Lead, mentor and develop a group of Marine Aftermarket Product Managers
  • Actively participates in Sales and Operations planning for all necessary facilities
  • Coordinates voice of customer/sales to engineering and engineering to sales/customer
  • Produces competitive analysis materials comparing Sierra products with those of key competitors
  • Assist with development of product sales strategies with of V.P. of Sales to increase product market share
  • Identifies partnering opportunities or acquisitions for complementary third-party products to broaden company's product line
  • Travel up to 25% - tradeshows, customer visits, etc.
  • Active member of, and provide technical guidance and advice to, the senior leadership team.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, preparing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing launch schedules with Sales, Marketing, Program Management, Engineering, Procurement and Operations
Requirements:
  • Experience with the different aftermarket sales channels is a significant plus.
  • Excellent project management (PM) skills; experience in using project planning software or the ability to show the use of a proven PM process/system that delivers results is essential.
  • Excellent project organizational and project portfolio management skills.
  • A person who is a team player, self-starter, data-driven, and has an extreme bias for action.
  • Managed a team and has a proven track record of success in developing leadership bench strength.
  • Experience in Product Management/Market Management roles in a company or business unit or product segment line with a least $50 million in annual revenues.
  • Experience with successful projects/products that started with the customer experience and were intensely focused on customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in the marine, automotive or a similar industry
  • Experience in (directly or indirectly) sales or operations role.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or engineering.
  • Advanced degree, such as an MBA, is a plus.
