Job Description

Director of Procurement (CPG Industry - Cleaning Products)


Position Summary: As the Director of Procurement for the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry in Wisconsin, with a focus on cleaning products, you will lead and manage all aspects of direct and indirect procurement activities within the organization. Your primary objective will be to optimize sourcing strategies, drive cost savings, and ensure the timely and efficient supply of cleaning products to support the company's operations and growth in the CPG industry.


Responsibilities:


Develop Procurement Strategy

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and process improvement in the procurement of cleaning products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with business requirements and sustainability goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy specifically tailored to the cleaning products segment within the CPG industry.


Manage Supplier Relationships

  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly and drive continuous improvement through performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with cleaning product suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to secure favorable pricing, quality, and delivery.
  • Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and sustainability practices.


Direct Procurement Operations for Cleaning Products

  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and qualification of cleaning product suppliers, considering factors such as product quality, safety, and environmental impact.
  • Oversee the end-to-end procurement process for cleaning products, from sourcing to contract management, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Optimize inventory management and demand planning specifically for cleaning products to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain.


Cost Management and Savings

  • Implement effective cost control measures to achieve financial targets and optimize profitability while maintaining product quality and sustainability.
  • Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain risks within the cleaning products segment to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives specific to the procurement of cleaning products, such as strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and value engineering.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate new cleaning product innovations, technologies, and sustainable packaging options.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, R&D, marketing, and sustainability teams, to align procurement strategies with product development, branding, and sustainability objectives.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence key stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the CPG industry, cleaning products market dynamics, and industry-specific procurement challenges and opportunities.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in the CPG industry, with a focus on cleaning products.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving cost savings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
