Summary


The University of Michigan Athletic Department is seeking a Director of Operations & Player Development for its Swimming & Diving program. This position is responsible for assisting in all phases of the program in accordance with NCAA, Conference and University rules, regulations and policies.


Responsibilities*


Essential Functions


  • Coordinate team meetings that include academic and leadership staff
  • Organize and execute team events
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules
  • Responsible for ordering and distributing equipment and apparel
  • Team Travel
  • Develop, Implement, and execute comprehensive alumni relations initiative with a focus on relationship building and fundraising.
  • Travel to away competitions, work home swim meets
  • Establish and develop parent communication that promotes parent involvement beyond parent-to-coach communications.
  • Oversee player development responsibilities that include leadership development, career development and planning, NIL oversight for swimmers and divers.
  • Oversight of team logistics and administrative duties
  • Assist the recruiting coordinator
  • Liaison to support services
  • Hire, coordinate and supervise student managers
  • Identify and engage local, domestic, and international donor prospects for future program initiatives that would allow Michigan Athletics to remain competitive at an elite level in swimming and diving.
  • Oversee student-athlete leadership within program to further enhance recruiting efforts of coaches and to promote healthy communication with program.
  • Special projects and duties assigned by the Head Coach


Office Responsibilities


  • Coordinate with opposing team staff for facility use and travel plans
  • Coordinate all team travel as well as opposition travel that would include: buses or vans, player per diem, air travel, hotels and meals.
  • Train managers on video logistics
  • Handle all requests (tickets, autographs, alumni questions, parent event and travel questions, media gudies, etc.)
  • Itinerary for pre and post meet organization
  • Coordinate with academic staff to when players will be out of class - class excuse forms
  • Coordinate the end of season team banquet


Assist Head Coach In All Areas


  • Equipment control and ensuring student athletes have necessary equipment on hand
  • Facility use requests
  • Practice and total meet organization
  • Housing of Athletes
  • Meet scheduling
  • Budget control and purchases

Required Qualifications*


  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics
  • Excellent computer and technical skills
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
