Job Description
Summary
The pursuing firm is seeking an individual to lead Inspection Infrastructure services in the telecommunication vertical. Positional responsibilities, further detailed below, include but are not limited to various technical evaluations, project management, client management, and administrative support services associated with turnkey inspection projects. This position will require a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the structural engineering/inspections field, demonstrated experience performing inspections of telecommunication infrastructure, and experience managing field crews. Career and/or educational experience should establish a thorough familiarity of pre-requisite data requirements for structural analyses/design of telecommunications structures, and experience gathering and/or leading teams in the field aspects of inspection methodology required to obtain such data, is required.
Positional Responsibilities
  • Assist in training field crews regarding technical, safety, and company policy procedures
  • Accountability for the overall performance of managed field crews, including technical, schedule, pacing, equipment usage and human resource related issues in accordance with company guidelines and policies
  • Work with project coordinator to proactively track field work completion status, taking action as schedule expectations dictate
  • Lead the development of standard operating procedures for field inspection services, including management policies for internal field crews to support inspection operations
  • Client development, management, and maintenance
  • Working with colleagues to properly distribute field personnel and equipment assets to meet client scheduling demands
  • Manage and coordinate all phases of field inspection services
  • Lead in the identification and onboarding of potential crew members
  • Work with CAD and structural engineering staff to develop efficient processes and resolve questions regarding technical content
  • Perform quality inspection of department deliverables, providing coaching/training to teams as necessary to improve delivered product
  • Maintain, enforce, and promote company safety guidelines
  • Lead the development/implementation of protocols and standard operating procedures for items such as travel scheduling, field data collection, field crew management and performance assessment, and report compilation
  • Serve as the lead technical resource for field crews; responding to inspector queries, issues, concerns
  • Proactively track field crew performance per company expectations, addressing and escalating issues as required
  • Review/compile department deliverables, including but not limited to TIA Inspection Reports, Tower Mappings, Mount Mappings, Foundation Mappings, Post Construction/Modification Inspections
The selected individual will be expected to have a thorough understanding of Inspection Infrastructure services and how they contribute to and affect the successful delivery of a turn-key end product from both a technical and scheduling standpoint.
Computer Software Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and advanced Excel functions is required
  • In-depth knowledge of structural analysis and design software including TNX Tower, RISA 3D, and foundation design/analysis programs is desired
  • Functional proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred
Experience/Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with contractors, clients or their representatives, jurisdictional officials, and other engineering vendors
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design, evaluation, and/or inspection of telecommunication structures including tower and foundation components
  • Knowledge of tower hardware and components, including the examination of probable cost relating to the specification of such equipment
  • Knowledge of bolted and welded connections
  • Knowledge of tower reinforcement/erection and tower construction practices preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client and strategic partner relationships
  • Ability to interpret site construction drawings, site audits, etc. regarding spatial relationships of various telecommunications infrastructure as it relates to structural design requirements
  • Working knowledge and thorough familiarity with codes and standards relating to telecommunication structures, including TIA/EIA-222 requirements
Educational Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Structural or related engineering field from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
