Director of Global Education, Delivery Team


Status: Full-Time


Type: Exempt


Reports to: VP Partner Success & Delivery

Founded in 2010, we are a social enterprise that works with leading nonprofits and government agencies around the world to push the boundaries of what’s possible in virtual learning and online events. From delivering an online series of courses on COVID response for frontline health workers to powering the largest human rights and tech conference in the world (RightsCon), TechChange contributes to some of our era's most innovative and important (virtual) conversations. TechChange provides human-powered services like facilitation, production, support, and design and a user-centric platform to support over 500K users across some 800 courses, workshops, and events.


ROLE OVERVIEW


The Director of Global Education is a team leadership position reporting to the VP of Partner Success & Delivery. They will lead a team of 6+ account managers and associates, and a community of contractor creative resources and subject matter experts (SMEs) in executing learning programs, courses and workshops from concept through delivery for a 2 million+ portfolio of global social sector customers (“partners”).


The Director should have experience in online and blended course/training/program design, development, and delivery for adult audiences; have managed people and teams previously; and be highly skilled with project management and client management. Ideally, you have worked in or with international development or global health organization(s) in an education, training, and/or development role.


Success is achieved through building a strong team of individual contributors through a culture of continuous feedback, fostering and growing partner relationships, and ensuring projects are launched with high customer satisfaction and minimal delays. Success is measured through the sustainability and growth of partner accounts, assessments of partner and learner satisfaction; as well as, the success and growth of your team’s project portfolio.


PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Lead a team of learning & curriculum designers and facilitators in the successful execution of high-quality projects that are professional in their execution and represent a consistent TechChange experience.
  2. Recruit, hire, and retain a diverse, highly qualified staff providing regular 1:1 feedback, coaching, and personal development
  3. Ensure all newly signed education projects are staffed to best meet and exceed customer expectations and goals
  4. Ensure project teams are executing against project timelines, plans, deliverables, and milestones, monitoring risk, and managing against delays
  5. Monitor project expenses (eg project resource allocation, contractor spend) to ensure projects are delivered on budget and within target margins.
  6. Develop strategic relationships with key customer stakeholders with an eye toward account expansion and retention
  7. Support business development team in developing accurate project SOWs and scopes for new business and continuous partner programs.
  8. Leverage and/or develop capacity frameworks for predicting department/project staffing against the sales pipeline
  9. Develop, innovate, and implement consistent, scalable department processes for project execution (eg project plan templates, kickoff decks, storyboard templates, and communication plans) leveraging best-practice design and delivery of multi-faceted learning programs
  10. Deescalate and problem-solve project issues, risks, and scope changes.
  11. Ensure team members are well-versed and leveraging best practices in adult learning and pedagogical theories and provide subject matter expertise in these areas when needed
  12. Foster a positive workplace culture and cultivate a psychologically safe working environment by promoting and upholding organizational values of conscientiousness, learning, and community.
  13. Serve as the voice of the customer in driving improvements and/or innovations to our product and services sharing customer insights with the leadership team
  14. Identify and report on key metrics and department OKRs for senior management
  15. Manage contractors and vendors (selection, contracting, invoicing)
  16. Effectively communicate, advise on, and enforce policies and company-wide objectives, acting as a bridge between your team and leadership to foster alignment, enhance engagement, and cultivate a supportive work environment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • A self-starter who takes the initiative to problem solve, recommend solutions and changes and get things done
  • Talented facilitator with experience leading workshops, discovery sessions, and ideation sessions leveraging human-centered design approaches
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g. Monday.com, Trello, Jira, Asana)
  • This role may require occasional supporting partners in non-US global time-zones
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in additional languages is highly valued.
  • 5+ years of customer-facing experience (eg. managing projects, scopes, and deliverables; high-touch customer/account management; consulting and/or training)
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Experience as a director or manager leading staff, processes, and key metrics reporting
  • Experience with virtual collaboration tools (eg. Miro, Mural etc)
  • Great communication skills and the ability to create and foster strong relationships
  • A calm demeanor under pressure and the leadership presence to build trust with global stakeholders (e.g. partners, speakers, senior leadership)
  • 5+ years of experience in education, training, instructional design, curriculum development, capacity strengthening programs, and/or other relevant experience
  • An understanding of online learning and pedagogical principles and techniques and/or experience developing training for online/hybrid environment
  • History of supporting successful business development execution (e.g. scoping projects, renewing partnerships; growing accounts etc.)
  • Ability to align and execute against strict deadlines
  • Experience with International Development, Global Health, Government, NGOs is highly preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities to identify and frame issues, synthesize information, and draw insightful conclusions

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS

General office environment. The position will require extensive time sitting or standing and viewing computer screens. The following capabilities are required to perform this position's essential functions; reasonable accommodations that do not create an undue burden on the company are available to address the following requirements.

  • May occasionally lift, carry, stoop, bend, etc. (no more than 20 pounds).
  • Ability to travel in the US and International (less than 20% time)
  • Ability to walk up multiple flights of stairs.


COMPENSATION


Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000
