Summary

The Engineering Director will lead, train, and mentor the technical teams comprised of Innovation (R&D), Product Design, Project Management, and Process and Automation teams. This role is accountable for all aspects of department performance including safety and environmental, quality, reliability, production, and productivity.

Job Details

  • Troubleshoots machinery/process/tooling and transfer knowledge to manufacturing
  • Ensure all manufacturing safety policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times
  • Develop and implement work instructions, workmanship standards, and process documents
  • Coordinate with Sales, Accounting, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Tooling to resolve customer complaints and concerns
  • Analyze and design lean manufacturing, optimize use of space, material, and equipment
  • Plan, organize, and lead the engineering team to meet company objectives for design, product development, and equipment improvements
  • Develop and implement cost-effective processes that meet product specifications, quality, and safety standards
  • Recommend and implement quality improvements to increase production and reduce costs
  • Ensure the engineering team and other manufacturing teams work together efficiently
  • Determine root causes and implement robust solutions
  • Ensure and improve material flow, machine efficiency
  • Oversee and be responsible for employee performance in the engineering department
  • Initiate design, development, optimization, and solve problems for new and existing products
  • Prepare new equipment for production readiness
  • Lead designing activities that promote APQP strategies, DFM / FMEA / Product Development
  • Drive customer satisfaction (external and internal)


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Professional, pleasant, courteous, and cooperative attitude with co-workers at all times
  • 10+ years in management leading a multi-disciplined technical organization required
  • Change agent, high sense of urgency, and transformative leader that is results-oriented
  • Master's Degree in technical or business-related fields highly desired
  • 5+ years leading continuous improvement (Lean) initiatives required
  • Strong working knowledge of Thermoforming, Extrusion, and Plastic Material science highly desired
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering discipline required
  • 5+ years in plastics industry required in thermoforming and/or injection molding
  • 5+ years in a Tier I or II automotive organization highly desired
  • Credible voice for technical topics and customer support
