Director of eLearning (Remote)


:


Champlain College Online (CCO) is currently seeking an experienced Director of eLearning to lead our team of instructional designers and quality assurance professionals. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the project management of course development and course modifications in close collaboration with academic program directors. As CCO continues to grow and innovate, you will play a pivotal role in strategically scaling our online learning offerings to meet future demands. Your expertise in project management and instructional design will be critical in shaping a dynamic, future-ready online learning environment that supports the expansion and evolution of Champlain College Online. This is a fully remote position.


Key Responsibilities:


• Lead and manage the instructional design team in the development of innovative and engaging course content, ensuring the highest standards of quality are met.

• Foster a positive, agile, and solution-oriented work environment, leading by example and cultivating collaboration and communication within the team.

• Manage a comprehensive quality assurance process, ensuring all course materials meet or exceed industry and accreditation standards.

• Interface with departments throughout the organization including the registrar, marketing, advising and the library to ensure the successful launch and delivery of courses.

• Collaborate with academic program directors to develop and modify courses that align with the college's strategic vision, learning outcomes, and best practices in online education.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of course development and modification projects, utilizing both waterfall and agile methodologies as appropriate to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.

• Skillfully adapt and shift project management approaches based on the specific requirements and timelines of each project, ensuring efficient workflow, clear communication, and successful project completion.

• Monitor course effectiveness and student feedback, and work with key stakeholders to continuously improve and update courses in response to evolving needs.

• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, and students.

• Stay current with trends and advancements in online education and instructional design, incorporating innovative ideas into the college's online learning offerings.

• Utilize data to make informed decisions about course design and program direction.

• Scale policies and processes to support the growth and expansion of the online education program.


Requirements:


Key Qualifications:


• A minimum of a Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, eLearning, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in online education and instructional design at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Demonstrated experience successfully managing remote teams.

• Proven expertise in instructional design theories and practices, as well as a deep understanding of the latest online learning tools and technologies.

• Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated talent for fostering collaboration, and for working with a diverse range of personalities.

• Proven experience as a creative problem-solver and a systems thinker, with a passion for recognizing challenges and implementing innovative approaches to address them.

• Demonstrated commitment to putting the "best interest of students" at the forefront of all decision-making.

• Detail-oriented, data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving.

• Growth mindset with a willingness to continuously learn, adapt, and drive innovation.

• Understanding of what it takes to scale policies and processes to support organizational growth.

Technical Skill Sets:


• Experience and high comfort level with eLearning technology tools, project management tools (ClickUp experience is a plus), and learning management systems (Canvas experience preferred).

• Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Apps required.

• Highly proficient in using Excel to manage and track project milestones across multiple departments.

• Experience with PhotoShop, Illustrator, other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Articulate360, and H5P is a plus.

• Some knowledge of HTML and CSS is helpful.
